This is my life. My perspective on all things yooper. My opinions. My experiences. Because this, this beautiful, cold, snowy, mosquito infested little piece of heaven up here is where I will be the rest of my life, Lord help me. I will never BE a Yooper. I will leave that to the professionals. But I am madly in love with one, so I have to learn to live in their territory. Some days are breathtaking and some days those breaths are full of swear words...if you get offended, go back South.

Food!
Who doesn't love food right? Well, here are a few of my favorite places since I have been here. In no order.
1. The Vierling in Marquette on Front Street. I LOVE French Onion Soup. This is by FAR - THE BEST French Onion soup I have ever had. You get a ton of cheese and bread and omg just yum. A must try. They have a drink there as well that is hot apple cider and Captain Morgan's. YUM. Not sure what it was called but it was delish.
2. LSP - Lake Superior Pizza. Read about it in previous post. Enough said. The rolls - ooey, gooey,yummyness.... the subs - the bread is super soft and amazing but a large is like a whole damn loaf of bread I swear. I can only eat half and I always forget that. So Tony always gets the other half. My large turkey sub is only $6.25.... it is all amazing and cheap. Love this place. 12" pizza rolls for the boys. yep.
3. Jean Kay's Deli. A local deli that apparently has some of the best pasties around. I get either a turkey breast sub or a gyro. Their Gyros are to die for. I am a fan of this place for good. One day I will try their pasties just to say I did. I will have to bring one of the boys along just in case I am not a fan of the lovable pasty, I have someone to pass it off to.
4. Aubree's Pizzaria and Grill - we stopped here by accident. I ended up ordering Fish tacos and they were AMAZING. Heatherlee and Tony had some bacon macaroni and cheese and they liked it. Not OMG amazing but they liked it. For desert we had some cookie dough inside a tortilla shell fried thing with ice cream and OMG, explosion in your mouth. Sorry I say OMG a lot. I feel like a teenager. In good old Yooper terms: Holy Wah. It was that yummy. The three of us shared it.
5. Our home. Because with fresh veggies, a little of this, a little of that, a good recipe, good company, good conversation - everything made with love - it is always a favorite place to be. Stop in sometime....maybe there will be something in the oven....
I have a plan to try a bunch of new and different places. There have been other places we have tried and the food was ok or good but not something we are dying to go back to. The Port Side Inn had good food. I ordered the wrong kind of fish so I did not care for mine but that was my fault in my ordering, not theirs. The atmosphere was good, a nice place, service was great. The Supper Club on 41 in between Ish and M95, why can't I remember the name, lol. We went there for a buffet on a Friday night. Not too bad but there was not a lot of stuff on the buffet and the batter on the fish was chewy and hard - had been sitting for a while. It was not busy at all. Customer service was very good. Drinks went down good. The little 95 tavern and grill - they no longer have a grill but they have pizzas and they were good. Thin crust and the crust was done a little crunchy, I am more of a deep dish or hand tossed kinda gal but the pizza was great. Bartender was great, service was awesome. They have a nice back patio with a nice view for us smokers. A nice little bar to swing into if you are thirsty. They have little shot glasses that look like baby Mason jars. I must have some one day. :-)
That's all for now, end of my writing today. It is Friday, enjoy your weekend, it is June in a few days. Summer if officially here for most of us. And it will go by faster than you know it.
If you have heard of a great place to eat up here, send me a message. I will drag Tony along and we can go check it out and I will report back. Have a great weekend!

The next time you are at the Portside, try the breadsticks! They are famous for them. Other places that are Marquette staples: the Casa Calabria, Vangoes, and Donckers.
